Urbas appoints Jaime Polanco as new group vice-president

Jaime Polanco, former senior executive of Prisa, has been linked to Urbas since 2021 acting as an independent director and as part of its Appointments and Remuneration Committee. The Board of Directors of Urbas approved the appointment of Polanco, as informed this Monday by the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

With a degree in Economics from the City University of New York and a diploma in international finance, he began his career in investment banking. He was General Director of Strategy and Corporate Development and Executive Chairman of Prisa International until 2009. In 2011 he became CEO of Latin Boost Group, a strategic consulting firm specializing in public and corporate affairs in Latin America. Finally, in August 2021, he joined the board of directors of Urbas as an independent director and member of its Appointments and Remuneration Committee.

Urbas has chosen Polanco to "contribute to the implementation of its new development plan". Urbas is currently focused on a growth plan to exceed one billion euros in turnover and an Ebitda of 150 million euros in 2025.

After posting the best results in its history in 2022, gross operating profit increased by 58% to €41 million (14% of revenue).

With the incorporation of Polanco, the group seeks to increase Urbas' international reach and strengthen its institutional relationships.

"His valued solvency and professional experience will be key to reinforce the group's growth process, increase its competitiveness and reach on an international scale, as well as strengthen institutional relations," says the company.

Over the years, Jaime Polanco has worked as a member of the Boards of Directors of several companies, such as Gestair, Cygnus, Carat, IMADE, Banco de Madrid, among others.In 1992 he was chosen as one of the one hundred businessmen of the future by the Spanish magazine Actualidad Económica, and also received the Latin Business American Awards as the best International CEO for his work in the business field in Latin America.
